The Musical Project was a collaboration between 28 New York University undergraduate students. The students devised an original musical theatre piece over the course of two weeks that was rooted in the shared interests and cultural needs these individuals felt deserve a voice in the contemporary theatre cannon.
The project was about process and ensemble. The artistic bond that these students made inspired the development of the piece, which culminated in a developmental workshop to be presented on the evenings of January 21st and 22nd in the Black Box Theatre of 440 Lafayette.
The piece was later supported and produced by Playwrights Downtown and Musical Theatre Factory.
