Dreams in Black Major is going to Theatretreffen’s Stückemarkt 2020

TaNia (Talia Paulette Oliveras and Nia Farrell)
is going to Berlin!

what is stückemarkt?

The Stückemarkt is a part of Theatretreffen that presents new authors from all over the world, who express themselves in a wide variety of theatre formats – from dramatic texts to performance project. Where do political awareness, new narratives and poetry come together?

Stückemarkt describes our piece as following:

In a ritualised, musical and collaged form, Nia Farrell and Talia Paulette Oliveras wrote the manifest “Dreams in Black Major” as a “celebration in five movements”. Starting from the concept of a space as a place of testimony, they consider the Black PoC movement in the USA as an Afro-futuristic movement. The text opens up a space for solidary discourse that radically questions classism and racism.

Dreams in Black Major received its workshop premiere by NYU/Tisch Drama/Experimental Theatre Wing with National Black Theatre in New York City on April 12, 2019. The subsequent production of Dreams in Black Major opened in New York City as part of ANT Fest at Ars Nova on June 6, 2019.
